The Blood of Black & White

It's a filthy, stinking, rotten mess. It's collided into one giant blob of dynamic contrast, abstract zoom, and terrifyingly obtuse focus.
It's Black and White, and its red all over. Black and White pictures tend to bleed a simple plea for the observer's eyes: light and dark. Black is the nocturnal shroud; the covering of all that sleeps. White is the day; the epic sun and its revealing personality. So, when these two mix in a single scene, a ballistic reaction occurs. The observer is at first stunned by simplicity: it's only two colors, if even a color at all. And yet, in this chaotic blend of striking simplicity, there is a war raging. The battle of focus, contrast, light, darkness, zoom, and a myriad other combatants. In my opinion, the toughest warriors are, and always will be, light and darkness. They are the soul and spirit of B&W. The ever arguing forces that whisper in the ears of the lens.
